The EEO-1 is an annual compliance survey that collects valuable employment data on employee race/ethnicity, gender, and job category. The survey is conducted by the EEOC under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the data is vital to the work of both the EEOC and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).

The EEOC analyzes EEO-1 data to support civil rights enforcement. Employment patterns such as minority representation in certain positions, industries, or regions are tracked and reported. The OFCCP uses EEO-1 data to select establishments for compliance audits, as well as to determine which facilities have a higher probability of systematic discrimination.

The EEO-1 Report is required of:

  1. Private employers with 100 or more employees, or
  2. Federal contractors or first-tier subcontractors with 50 or more employees and a contract/subcontract amounting to $50,000 or more.

If your company meets the above criteria and has not received an EEO-1 Survey Notification Letter by August 15, 2016, contact the EEO-1 Joint Reporting Committee at 877-392-4647. A sample of the EEO-1 Survey Notification Letter can be viewed here:

The EEOC has an online filing system which is the preferred method of filing. Most employers use this system which can be accessed at http://www.eeoc.gov/eeo1survey with the login details provided in the EEO-1 Survey Notification Letter.

The deadline for filing EEO-1 Survey Data is September 30, 2016. If you need assistance, contact your Axiom team.
