Due to the recent government shutdown and partial lapse in appropriations, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has postponed this year’s EEO-1 to early March with a new deadline of May 31, 2019.

The EEO-1 Form is a report mandated by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1967 as amended by the Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972.  The act requires that certain employers located in the 50 states and the District of Columbia report on the racial/ethnic composition of their workforce by specific job categories.

Private employers that have at least 100 employees, federal government contractors and first-tier subcontractors with 50 or more employees and a federal sub-contract or purchase order in the amount of $50,000 or more must file the EEO-1 report.

According to the EEOC, the exact date of the survey opening will be forthcoming.  Filers can refer to the EEO-1 website or subscribe to receive EEOC emails to obtain updated information as it is released.
