Due to the government shutdown and lapse in federal funding for the Department of Homeland Security, the E-Verify website is currently unavailable.
In past shutdowns, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has implemented temporary policies so employers are not penalized for not being able to E-Verify cases under the three-day rule. During the break in service, employers are still expected to complete the manual Form I-9 verification process as usual.
